3 Simple Tips for Clearing Clutter

img_2495There’s something sophisticated about simplifying our lives. There’s also so much romance around having a simple life but the process can be hard to navigate. As I study with Dana Claudat of The Tao of Dana, I’m learning that:

our homes are a mirror of our lives.

This weekend, consider 1 place that you use everyday (a wallet, a cutlery drawer or the centre console of your car) and see how it FEELS to let some things go and #makespaceforsomethingnew

• before decluttering open a window, burn a candle/incense or go for a walk. This helps to ground before uprooting

• start with 1 drawer or 1 shelf at a time (resist the urge to take everything out)

• Set a timer and only do 15 min at a time. This is why you don’t want to bite off more than you can chew. You can always come back to it later, but finishing the small amount that you started is a lot more satisfying than leaving a pile of clutter on your floor or counter for days.

The photo above is an example of some of the fruits of my labour. We don’t have a cat bed, Brother doesn’t need one, he finds comfort and happiness in the other things around him.
