Re-member (my definition): the practice of integrating all parts of myself (members of my body) that feel fragmented or overstimulated so that I can feel whole again. .
.
The simplest way I know how to bring myself back to my best self is to do a sensory check in and remember that I can make necessary adjustments. .
.
š¤ notice my coverings, am I hot/cold/restricted or free to move? What kind of fabrics are covering me? Can I loosen/take off/ adjust clothing? I feel best when Iām naked, in a dress or in a nightgown (no seams, fasteners or waist bands) .
.
š what kind of colours/images surround me? Are they artificial? Are they moving? Where is my primary point of focus (often itās down if Iām on my phone or computer)? Can I find something natural to look at? Can I practice looking into my peripheralsĀ #eyeyoga? .
.
š what sounds do I hear, near or far? What are the quality of the sounds, natural/artificial, soothing/harsh? Can I put in ear plugs or listen to something soothing (#dangibsonssolitudesĀ are š).
.
š what do I taste, sweet/sour/salty/bitter/spicy? Is my mouth dry/wet? Am I hungry/thirsty/satisfied? Can I take a sip of water or eat something?.
.
š what do I smell? This oneās tricky because scent (natural and artificial) are all around us and we may not even be aware of the toxic burdens theyāre playing on our bodies. Pollution, detergents, perfumes and even natural essential oils can be overwhelming. If I have essential oils, plants or herbs near by Iāll take a sniff that help bring me back. Smelling citrus is also refreshing and familiar š.
