Iced Turmeric Lemonade

Rebalance your body after the weekend with this hydrating and liver-stimulating elixir inspired by Katie Wells of Wellness Mama. LEMONS ARE AN ALKALIZING POWERFOOD. THE COMBO OF TURMERIC AND LEMON HELP TO SOOTHE THE EFFECTS OF INFLAMMATION IN THE BODY. Even though lemons taste acidic, they have powerful alkalizing properties in the body – meaning that they help to balance any extra acidity caused by stress and inflammation. They also help to stimulate and support the liver, so that it can effectively act as one of the body’s most important filtration and detoxification organs. It tastes… A little bit like a...

Easy Single Serving Cashew Milk

Have you ever seen a cashew tree or wondered where cashews come from? I made some delicious nut milk today and realized I didn’t even know what a cashew tree looked like. Native to Brazil, these beautiful nuts also grow in India and Africa and the trees produce a pear-like apple which bears this gorgeous nut. As easy as making a smoothie (actually easier) this nut milk is rich in magnesium, high in protein and is a good source of healthy fats. Cheaper than store-bought and so much more rewarding to make.

Yes, most people would use a timer, but if you met the infamous Dorion, taking one shoe off is more her style. (The same trick can be used for One-Shoe-Chicken) Loaded with seeds and nuts, this Granola is naturally sweetened with honey and...

Homemade Nut Milk

Got milk? If you’ve got nuts + water + blender then you’ve got nut milk. I’ve made a really simple single serving, no-soaking required cashew milk which was amazing. This one is just as good but the trade-off for the added step of soaking nuts overnight is that you make quite a bit more, about 2L. Making your own nut milk isn’t for everyone, store-bought sure is is convenient, but often there are added ingredients that just aren’t necessary. THE HARDEST PART ABOUT MAKING NUT MILK IS REMEMBERING TO SOAK YOUR NUTS OVERNIGHT. Once you’ve established a routine, it’s easy and rewarding to...
